Hi, I’m Evi, formerly known as Cricket.  This was back in the good old days when I was a size jr. petite three.   Don’t even ask me and I won’t tell how that name came about, but it sure stuck.  To this day I still have friends that call me Cricket.   Also, please don’t ask me what size I am now.

Anyway, I’m a displaced New Yorker who is now suffering chronic heat rash in sunny, hot and muggy Southwest Florida.  What possessed me to move down here, you might ask?  Well, my Mom and stepfather came down in ’88 and when I retired from New York State service I followed them.  Big mistake!

I hate insects, especially biting, bloodsucking ones of which we have a vast variety down here from mosquitoes, no-see-ums, fire ants and whatever else you can think of.  I also can’t stand being hot and sweaty all the time.  Just picture being covered in itchy welts and suffering a permanent hot flash with no end in sight.  Not a pretty picture is it?

Needless to say, I long for my New York days, the change of seasons and the changes in scenery.    Of course I also long for the days when I was still skinny, cute and single working in offices in New York City  and on Long Island.  So with this blog I get to relive some of those times and take you along for the commute (on the Long Island Rail Road, of course).

And don’t go thinking I spend all my time living in the past in a robe and fuzzy slippers with my cat on my lap – though my husband might tell you otherwise.  I do work part-time as a field rep for a food broker and can tell you where every Publix Supermarket is from Bradenton down to Marco Island.  So, I do get around some.

I’ll also talk about normal every day occurrences around here, my opinions on things – half-assed or otherwise – and hope I won’t bore you too much.    And if you have stories to tell I’d love to hear them, so please leave a comment.

Evi
